THE OPPORTUNITY

The Music Teacher will impart fundamental concepts such as rhythm, melody, harmony, tempo, and musical notation. They introduce students to various musical styles, genres, and instruments and help them develop a basic understanding and appreciation of music. Instruction should include how to sing, play instruments, and read music. The role also includes the design and implementation of a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with educational standards and objectives.

LIST OF TASKS AND DUTIES

• Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• Maintenance of classroom, organization, and use of space

• Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.

• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.

• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.

• Instruct students individually and in group, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.

• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.

• Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate student progress.

• Lead, teach, and coordinate the school’s Singers program.

• Organize and manage the school’s Winter Concert.

• Organize and manage the school’s 6th Grade play.

• Coordinate and manage opportunities for students to sing on and off campus.

• Provide necessary piano accompaniment for student learning and performance.

• Experience with musical direction.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• A clear understanding of child development

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

• Physical demands: the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and talk

• Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.

EXPECTED PAY RANGE

$75,000-$90,000
