THE OPPORTUNITY

The Associate Math Lab Specialist will work collaboratively with TK-6 teachers, staff, and school leadership to implement a comprehensive math program that aligns with state standards. A primary focus of this role is working with our Math Lab teacher, utilizing low floor, high ceiling problems that stretch our students’ rubber band while making high-level math accessible for all. The successful candidate will support curriculum development and implementation, math instruction, assessment, and differentiation, while working alongside our lead Math Lab Specialist.

DUTIES

  • Develop and deliver differentiated instruction in the Math Lab to meet the diverse needs of all learners, providing both intervention and acceleration as needed.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers and Lead Math Specialist to integrate mathematical concepts and skills into daily instruction and support the overall implementation of the math curriculum.
  • Use a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress, maintain up-to-date records, and perform ongoing data analysis to inform instruction.
  • Develop and deliver opportunities for teachers to enhance their content knowledge in math and their pedagogical techniques.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student performance and strategies to support math learning at home.
  • Participate in and prepare students for various math contests and challenges.
    Serve as an expert resource for the school community, staying current on the latest research and best practices in math education.
  • Provide in-class support during homeroom math instruction, collaborating with teacher to reinforce concepts, differentiate learning, and assist students in real time.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree is required for associate teachers; preference will be given to candidates who have also earned a master’s degree and teaching credential.
  • Possess robust active listening skills, attentively engaging with students to foster a supportive environment, understanding their perspectives, and skillfully addressing both their academic and social-emotional needs within the educational context.
  • Strong competency in spoken and written communication, exceptional reading comprehension, and effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to effectively resolve intricate challenges.
  • Proficient in G Suite (e.g., Classroom, Slides, Docs, Sheets, Drive).
  • Ability to articulate a strong commitment to diversity and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.

EXPECTED PAY RANGE:

$48,000 – $54,000 per year
