The Childcare Center at The Bishop’s School
The Bishop’s School Childcare Center is a unique center offered only for children of the employees at the Bishop’s School. We are a small center licensed for 18 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years. We offer low child to teacher ratios, a set schedule of 7:00am to 4:00pm Monday – Friday, reduced summer hours with full pay, free employee medical, dental and vision plan options and more. The Bishop’s School Childcare Center is truly one of a kind and a phenomenal place to grow your career.
Compensation: $23 – 25/hour
Position Summary Description
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Childcare Services, the Childcare Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing classroom programming in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the School Childcare Center including but are not limited to physical caregiving, feeding and diapering, and following an age-appropriate curricular plan, and facilitation of supportive relationships with co-workers, parents, and students.

Essential Functions and Specific Duties

Facilitate and nurture the development of each child while providing responsive care based on individual needs, temperaments, abilities and cultures which includes but is not limited to feeding, toileting/diapering and medication administration.
Performs as an educator for assigned children in the classroom setting throughout the child’s enrollment in the program.  Plans, implements and supervises a developmentally appropriate and inclusive educational curriculum for young children.
Maintains accepted standards of order, cleanliness and sanitation and supply inventory of assigned classroom, program facilities.
Actively collaborates with parents in an ongoing and positive manner to support each child’s developmental needs. Solicits and responds to the families’ requests and suggestions and communicates them to appropriate program staff. Conduct parent-teacher conferences for all primary care children as well as assist other teachers with their primary care children when needed.
Ensure the assigned classroom environment complies with all applicable policies, laws and regulations and is safe and appropriate for children.
Implement food service (snack preparation) in accordance with applicable policies and proper food handling guidelines and procedures.
Perform with a team approach, other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

High School diploma required.  Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
12 units in Child Development or Early Childhood education required.
At least 3 units in infant toddler coursework required.
At least 2 years of experience in a childcare center is preferred.
Proficiency with Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) particularly for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.
Pediatrics CPR/AED/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
Basic proficiency with Google Workspace and aptitude for learning new technology.
