St. Margaret’s Episcopal School is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Girls Lacrosse Coach to lead and develop our girls lacrosse program. The ideal candidate will have expertise in coaching lacrosse, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, competitive, and positive team culture. As Head Coach, you will be responsible for guiding our student-athletes, developing their skills, and ensuring the overall success of the program.

Responsibilities

Leadership Articulate and implement a clear vision for the girls lacrosse program that aligns with the values of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. Motivate and inspire student-athletes, coaches, and parents to embrace the program’s goals and values. Set clear expectations for student-athletes, both in their athletic performance and personal development, providing guidance to help them reach their potential. Build and lead a cohesive coaching staff that works collaboratively to deliver a successful program. Be a stabilizing force when challenges arise, offering direction and leadership to both athletes and staff. Establish and pursue measurable program goals, continuously evaluating and adapting strategies to meet those goals. Knowledge of Sport Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lacrosse trends, strategies, and training methods to create a competitive and effective program. Develop and implement strategic plans that focus on improving individual and team performance. Utilize effective coaching techniques to teach lacrosse fundamentals and advanced skills, fostering athlete development at all levels. Maintain strong connections within the lacrosse community at the local, state, and national levels to attract talented athletes and staff. Stay current on lacrosse trends by attending conferences, clinics, and workshops to continually improve as a coach. Tailor training methods to be age-appropriate and ensure they are designed to maximize student-athletes’ growth.

Administrative Skills

Oversee the vertical integration of the program, ensuring smooth coordination and skill progression from middle school through high school. Coordinate with Sports Medicine, our athletic trainer, and other school staff to ensure all aspects of the program are well-supported. Organize and manage practices, games, and tournaments, creating a balanced and effective schedule for the team. Collaborate with the maintenance staff to ensure equipment and facilities are well-maintained and ready for use. Complete necessary paperwork and ensure compliance with school, league, and CIF requirements. Attend all mandatory meetings, including league and school athletic department sessions.

Cultural Aptitude

Recognize the need for students to balance academics with athletics, creating a program that supports their success in both areas. Foster an environment that encourages perseverance, teamwork, and a positive mindset, helping students believe in their potential and achieve success. Promote the value and purpose of lacrosse, ensuring students understand the lessons it offers both on and off the field. Embrace and celebrate the diversity of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School, ensuring the program respects and promotes inclusivity. Build strong relationships with the broader school community, including parents, faculty, and staff.

Character

Serve as a role model for students, demonstrating strong moral character, integrity, and sportsmanship at all times. Represent St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in a professional and positive manner, both within and outside the school community. Uphold the school’s reputation and adhere to its values, ensuring your conduct reflects the highest standards of behavior. Follow all school policies, as well as local, state, and federal laws, while making decisions that are in the best interest of students and the program.
