The Opportunity
This is a full-time English position that reports to the dean of faculty and the English department chair, beginning on August 1, 2025. The ideal candidate will delight in being part of a community that appreciates an array of vibrant ideas and viewpoints and wants to nurture and celebrate students through adolescence.
Primary Duties
Primary duties and expectations will consist of but are not limited to the following:
· Teach four English sections to students in grades 7-12, likely including 9th or 10th grade English and 11th AP English Literature.
· Proactively fulfill all professional responsibilities, such as chaperoning on- and off- campus events, conducting an advisory group, participating in an annual outdoor education overnight trip, attending faculty-staff meetings, assessing student work thoughtfully, and contributing to departmental and schoolwide discussions of creative pedagogy
· Engage in meaningful, school-funded professional growth to develop further as a teacher, including one formal individual growth opportunity in the first three semesters at Flintridge Prep. Set annual goals in conjunction with administrators that relate to the school’s Characteristics of Professional Excellence and Portrait of a Wolf.
· Enhance the student life of the school through a substantial extracurricular presence (clubs, athletics, etc.), determined in concert with the administration
· Visibly support the school’s mission, vision, values, Honor Code, and strategic priorities
Desired Qualifications
· Has experience working with and a deep appreciation of adolescents
· Has at least a bachelor’s degree in English or a related field
· Has demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging work
· Brings a flexible, innovative, can-do approach to teaching
· Has experience in an extracurricular activity that can translate to work with students
· Enjoys collaborating with and creating camaraderie with colleagues

The anticipated salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000
based on zero to five years of teaching experience.
