Campbell Hall, founded in 1944 and situated on 15 naturally landscaped acres in Studio City, California, is an independent, all-gender, college preparatory, Episcopal day school for students in kindergarten through grade twelve. The high school division includes grades 9 -12 and is composed of approximately 540 students and 80 full- and part-time faculty and coaches.

Campbell Hall College Counselor Description
Campbell Hall (K-12, all-gender, college preparatory, Episcopal) is seeking a college counselor who is dedicated to the developmentally appropriate education of the whole child; who are interested in leading as well as guiding; who connect their responsibilities with the philosophy and purpose of the school; who serve to empower as well as to inform; who are comfortable with questions as well as with answers; who can work with direction, focus, humor and dignity within the complexities of a diverse school environment; and who will be dedicated to promoting and maintaining an inclusive school community.
Campbell Hall counselors relate to students, parents and colleagues in ways which promote open, supportive communication, and are involved in many aspects of school life such as attending DATs and serving on committees.
Campbell Hall counselors pride themselves on becoming involved in many aspects of the school community. They are dedicated in their implementation of a vigorous college preparatory academic program and are equally devoted to the emotional and spiritual development of each student. The result is a community where students and adults are confident to learn and grow.
The College Counselor is an integral part of the college counseling team, which includes a Director, Associate Director, Assistant Director, College Counselor, and College Counseling Coordinator. This is a full-time, 10-month position with responsibilities that can vary greatly throughout the academic year and will periodically necessitate evening or weekend commitments. We value candidates who can patiently support students and parents, who can successfully manage the varied demands of a busy office, who have experience in and/or interest in creatively incorporating technology and mixed-media into our efforts, who are comfortable working in a very collaborative environment, and who have a sense of humor.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Advising and assisting students and families as they move through the college research, application, and selection process; helping students to shape the best possible college match.
- Understanding the college admission process at a variety of institutions and selectivity levels.
- Reviewing students’ college application materials.
- Maintaining regular communication with parents and students throughout the process.
- Writing letters of recommendation.
- Continuing professional development and maintaining relationships with admissions and counseling colleagues by attending state and national conferences.
- Visiting college campuses to maintain relationships with admission staff members and to increase knowledge of various college options.
- Meeting with college admissions representatives when they visit Campbell Hall and establishing solid working relationships with admissions officers throughout the country.
- Participating in evening and weekend college counseling programs.
- Advising students about academic course selection.
- Actively engaging in the Campbell Hall community by attending athletic events, performances, and other student activities.
- Attending chapel and staff and divisions meetings throughout the year.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- At least 3 years of full-time employment experience in university admissions or college counseling at a high school. Related experience at Community Based
- Organization or scholarship programs may also be considered.
- Strength in both written and oral communication.
- Energy, patience, and creativity when working collaboratively with a range of constituent groups, including students, families, faculty, staff, and administration from diverse backgrounds (religious, ethnic, socio-economic, etc.)
- Proficiency with standard computer applications.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of college counseling experience.
- Proficiency with technology to include: Google apps for education and productivity; BenQ interactive classroom board; PowerSchool; and/or Google site creation and maintenance, and a willingness to integrate technology into daily work.
