This position reports to the Head of School and is a full-time senior administrative position. The Dean oversees all teaching and learning in grades 3-6, ensuring a joyful, rigorous, highly structured and nuanced environment for students. The Dean is responsible for teacher evaluation and development, the curriculum and all standardized testing from grades 3-6. The Dean meets regularly with families to assess student engagement and success in grades 3-6; she/he also partners with the Assistant Head of School on matriculation. The Dean serves on the senior administrative team and ensures highly successful transition for students from the preschool-grade 2 program. She/he is co-chair of the Curriculum Committee and of the Child Study Team.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 3 year’s experience as an elementary or middle school administrator
- At least 5 year’s experience as a lead elementary or middle school teacher
- Proven success in evaluating faculty
- Proven success in refining and strengthening culture to yield mission aligned faculty
- Proven excellence in building highly successful DEIJB learning spaces
- Proven success in coaching faculty to design rigorous and equity-framed instruction with differentiated student assessment and learning
- Proven success in partnering with families to ensure student success
- Successfully applies growth-mindedness, honesty, high standards and empathy to one’s own professional growth
- Masters or undergraduate degree in administration or curricular development preferred.
Duties include
- Overseeing the 3rd-6th grade academic and affective experience
- Supervises all 3rd-6th grade teaching and playground staff
- Organizes 3rd-6th grade faculty meetings
- Oversees 3rd-6th grade faculty professional development
- Ensures a quality and responsive experience for 3rd-6th grade families
- With the Assistant Head, oversees the matriculation process to middle school
- Serves on the school’s equity team
- Serves on the Senior Administrative Team
- Co-chairs the school’s Child Study Team
- Supports the school’s strategic initiatives related to admission (class visits, notes to families, open houses, fairs, etc.) and advancement of mission (collaborating with the Communications Office with upper grade life & academics communications)
- Coordinates pick-up and drop-off
- Meets with 3rd-6th families to assess student success and challenges
- Works closely with the other divisional leadership to coordinate narratives, progress reports
- Works closely with other divisional leadership to curate parent-facing events related to curriculum, teaching and learning.
Salary
The salary range is $85,000 to $110,000 based on years of experience.
