PROGRAM HEAD – BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Sage Hill School

The Program Head for Boys Basketball is responsible for developing and leading the basketball program while supporting and upholding the Schools mission. This is a part time twelve-month position which includes coaching in season and off season programs.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Head coach of the Varsity program
  • Handle parent concerns related to the Basketball program
  • Identify, retain and manage a team parent
  • Work closely with Director of Athletics in hiring and evaluation of the coaching staff
  • Manage all scheduling needs for the program, organize off-campus sites, playoff locations and other needs
  • Attend all pertinent CIF, League, and Seasonal Coaches meetings pertaining to the sport
  • Attend monthly Athletic Program Head meetings
  • Manage inventory and distribution of all uniforms and equipment for the program in conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director.
  • Work closely with Director of Athletics with the management of the budget for the program
  • Work closely with the Sage Hill School Strength and Conditioning Coach both in season and off season to develop a program to fit the needs of the team
  • Handle game day management for the program
  • Work closely with the Athletic Trainer in regards to the program players injuries and recovery plan
  • Support, attend and present awards for the program at the Seasonal Athletic Awards Celebration
  • Attend all Thunder Club events when appropriate
  • Plan, organize and execute an off season program in the fall through the Lightning Club program
  • Plan, organize and execute a boys basketball summer camp for high school students through the Summer at Sage program
  • Plan, organize and execute a boys basketball summer camp for middle school students through the Summer at Sage program

Other duties as delegated by the Director of Athletics
Supervisory responsibilities: Boys Basketball coaching staff and trainers

  • Experience as a head coach
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong conflict resolution
  • Excellent collegiality, professionalism and organizational ability
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the culture and goals of independent schools
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently and effectively within a team-oriented, fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work well with teenagers and their parents
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to use sound judgment and work independently
  • B.A. or B.S. degree in appropriate field, M.A. or M.S. preferred
