Position Description This position is responsible for the creation, distribution, and maintenance of content for the internal and external communications across all digital and print platforms. They attend and engage in school events and capture storytelling moments that depict the  day-to-day life and vitality of the school, compiling short written news stories, photography, and video for daily and weekly publication. This individual adheres to timely project deadlines and assumes the role as the production and media assistant for all communications and brand marketing projects. As the main social media and newsletter manager, they engage all constituents by preparing regular content that celebrates and informs the Husky community. This individual may also be responsible for welcoming visitors, answering phones, and other administrative duties, as needed.

This position is a great opportunity to gain professional experience in the marketing and communications field while working closely with the development team and playing an important role in a lively school community.

Essential Functions

Social Media, Website, and Email Communications

  • Manage all content and track analytics for social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn)
  • Write, design, and deploy weekly newsletters to students and families as well as a monthly newsletter to alumni/ae and community members
  • Create, proofread, and publish regular written and visual content for the Head of Schools weekly communication
  • Create compelling graphics for social media using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Ensure visual and editorial integrity of the RHP/REN/REACH brand in all public-facing communications.
  • Maintain updated style guides
  • Oversee design of branded products
  • Maintain and update the schools’ website weekly, including calendar changes, directory updates, news postings, and webpage edits
  • Write and distribute press releases
  • Design and implement a comprehensive strategy for RHP/REN/REACH communications in alignment with and in support of RHP/REN/REACH goals
  • Design, plan, post and monitor RHP/REN/REACH social media channels with the schools’ mission in mind.
  • Create content that is compelling and reflects the collegiate feel of the RHP brand
  • Develop the communications calendar and strengthen communications systems
    Set quantitative and qualitative metrics and analyze results to evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies and ensure quality standards
  • Collaborate on the communications strategy and creation of print pieces for programmatic and fundraising events in coordination with the Enrollment Management Office
  • Potential to develop, coordinate, and teach classes on communications-related topics

Project Management and Administrative Support

  • Adhere to timelines, manage correspondence, and process invoices and paperwork for digital and print communications projects
  • Foster relationships and interface with outside vendors, such as independent contractors, designers, photographers, videographers, printers, and web developers
  • Maintain a digital archive of marketing assets (photography, video, and documents) on  Google Drive and other sources.
  • Provide front office coverage as needed, including welcoming visitors and answering phones.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field in a nonprofit organization/independent school preferred
  • Superb writing, editing, and proofreading skills (familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style a plus)
  • Excellent attention to detail, creativity, and resourcefulness
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
    Ability to work independently
  • Comfortable managing numerous projects in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Dynamic self-starter and innovator with a commitment to lifelong professional development
  • Highly motivated team player who is energized by the mission and values of RHP/REN/REACH
  • Experience with the following tools and systems strongly preferred:
    • Content management systems (such as Finalsite, WordPress, Edlio, etc.)
    • Email marketing programs
    • Google Workspace
    • Adobe Creative Suite/Adobe InDesign
    • Microsoft Office
    • Canva
    • Photoshop or Illustrator
  • Experience in an integrated marketing/communications role a plus
  • Experience with social media and email marketing management systems Google analytics, Google Keywords, and Facebook Ads
  • Experience with Final Site a plus
  • Demonstrate success in a communications or marketing role developing strategies to increase brand awareness leveraging all marketing and communication channels
  • Ability to compel others to take action as a key storyteller and skillfully synthesize complex ideas into sophisticated writing in a variety of styles and formats
  • Deadline-oriented and able to manage multiple shifting priorities
  • Teaching experience a plus
  • Must successfully complete background screening and verification

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Proven experience in communications; experience in a private school setting is a plus
  • Superior organizational skills, project management experience and logistical skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment, including students, coworkers, parents, alumnae, volunteers, trustees, and the public
  • Adaptability, honesty, self-reliance, teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, work ethic, determination, persistence, problem-solving skills, loyalty, and congeniality are essential
  • Proactive problem solving, both detail-oriented and flexible, demonstrating mature judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality and composure under pressure
  • Proficiency in managing multiple priorities strategically and under tight deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Advanced understanding and ability to use computers and technology including Microsoft Windows and Office products, including a proficiency in the ability to mail-merge in Word and perform basic functions and formulas in Excel; prior experience with BlackBaud is preferred

Other Considerations:

  • Position start date is July 1, 2022 or sooner if available
  • Compensation Range $60,000 – $75,000 depending on experience

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Regularly works in standard office conditions and climate
  • Regularly uses close and distance vision, including working at a computer screen for extended periods of time
  • Frequently required to move around the office; works at a desk for extended periods of time; occasionally moves around campus
  • Ability to occasionally move items weighing up to 30 lbs. across the office or campus
  • Works in a highly stressful environment, effectively dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts with stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions
  • Ability to regularly work flexible hours to support the Head of Schools with emergent and urgent items and to meet deadlines; position will require some non-traditional work hours, including occasional nights and weekends
