Marlborough School, an independent, college preparatory school in Los Angeles for 530 young women in grades 7-12, seeks a dynamic Upper School Math instructor to join the faculty for the 2023-2024 school year for a full-time position teaching secondary level Mathematics courses including Multivariable Calculus, Calculus and Precalculus Honors. The salary range for this position is based on a full-time minimum bi-weekly gross rate of $2,692.31, a midpoint rate of $3,653.85, and a maximum rate of $4,615.38 for the duration of the leave, dependent upon education and experience.

The Mathematics Department prepares students for college-level mathematics, teaches students to become independent problem solvers, and strives to motivate students to appreciate the elegance and wonder of mathematics. The Department is committed to supporting and guiding young women in math; to that end, our courses can be viewed as an ongoing open dialogue between the teacher and students. The Department emphasizes the integration of technology in its courses. Calculators and computer software help the students apply what they learn to real world applications and also to visualize more challenging mathematical concepts. The Department uses many teaching strategies including lecture, partner work, collaborative groups, and projects in the pursuit of its goal of providing young women with the best possible mathematics education. The Department requires the use of a TI-Nspire CX graphing calculator in all courses beginning with Geometry or Geometry Honors. In order to develop students’ number sense, no calculators are used in Pre-Algebra and Algebra I.


●       Collaborate with fellow Mathematics teachers in teaching teams.

●       Plan, prepare and deliver engaging math lessons for the appropriate developmental level.

●       Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, student services, deans, and other administrators.

●       Teach four Mathematics courses.

●       Utilize Marlborough’s learning management system to take attendance, provide curriculum materials and maintain a digital gradebook.

●       Serve as a grade-level advisor to a group of approximately 12 students.

●       Participate actively in grade-level and school activities.


●       Possess, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics.

●       Has at least three to five years of demonstrated success teaching Mathematics at the secondary level.

●       Comfortable with teaching at the AP Calculus level and beyond.

●       Experience with using TI graphing calculators, preferably with the TI-Nspire CX.

●       Excellent organizational skills, including experience with a learning management system.

●       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

●       Proficient computer skills with Google Drive and Microsoft Windows office products.

●       Committed to personal growth and development in education.

●       Dedication to the development of young women, including experience and enthusiasm for positive identity development and diversity, equity and inclusion work.

●       Enjoys collaborating with other teachers on curriculum development, lesson plans and pedagogy.

●      Possess a high degree of interest in supporting the developmental needs of teenagers with the ability to combine high expectations with a high level of support.
