Bookstore Associate – Temporary Position
The Harvard-Westlake School Bookstore is a specialty store customized to service the Harvard-Westlake School community. We are currently seeking a qualified associate to work in our Upper School Bookstore. The ideal candidate will have retail and non-profit experience with an emphasis on providing an excellent customer service experience for the entire HW Community. This position will report to the Upper School Bookstore Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Support and interface with the wide range of Bookstore customers including students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and others
• Ship and receive deliveries, including textbook boxes, returns, and inventory shipments
• Merchandise, counter sales, restock, and maintain the sales floor
• Work with management to maintain visual merchandising standards: assist in the creation of signage, promotional materials
• Supervise and assist Bookstore parent volunteers
• Ability to lift/maneuver boxes up to 50 pounds
We’re looking for someone with:
· Strong written, verbal, and communication skills
· Great customer service skills, fun and driven spirit, and strong work ethic
· Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory audit systems
· Technically proficient including Microsoft Office with Excel skills, Photoshop & illustrator experience a plus

Compensation: Anticipated base compensation for this role is between $22 -$24 per hour depending on experience.
Schedule: This is a temporary position contracted from 9/16/2024 – 6/30/2025 with potential for renewal. This is a part-time, in-person position with no benefits expected to work approximately 25 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Flexible to work after hours, weekends and special school events on occasion on both campuses, as needed.
