Crossroads seeks an enthusiastic and responsible Design + Code + Make leader, thinker, and instructor with a passion for hands-on building, design thinking, coding, and computer science projects. This position will be responsible for growing the ES into a place that understands the intersection of technology, humanity, design, and culture. This position will be responsible for teaching and designing curriculum for elementary students in grades 2-5 and helping with maintenance/training/support for instructional technology. We envision the position starting Fall 2023.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ideator of Purpose-driven technology for an elementary school.
- Teaching/Curriculum
- Instructor for elementary school students leading hands-on projects in design thinking, coding, material engineering, robotics, and 3D printing.
- Research/Create project lessons for design thinking, coding, material engineering, robotics, and 3D printing.
- Develop and teach classes in the XRDS ES Center for I & C and partner with classroom teachers on cross-curricular content.
- Create a safe and engaging environment in Maker Spaces for students in both lower and upper elementary school.
- Host parent chats & councils around relevant EdTech and media wellness.
- Present engaging content to the K-5 community during “Digital Citizenship Week” and “Computer Science Education/Hour-of-Code Week.”
- Instructional Technology Thinker, Innovator, Support Role
- Assist IT team with tasks such as monitoring ticketing system, configuring/maintaining student 1:1 iPads and Chromebooks, maintaining and updating the Blackbaud K-12 Learning Management System, and training teachers on use of equipment and software.
- Provide guidance and leadership to administration around the implementation of new technology or programs.
- Support the tech needs of Monday Morning Meetings and Friday Gatherings.
- Record Monday Morning Meetings and Friday Gatherings.
- Support 2nd-5th grade parents with technology education updates and interactive opportunities.
- Coordinate ES budget requests for new technology and subscriptions.
- Onboarding of new faculty
- Assistance with setup of online grade books, class webpages and daily tech troubleshooting
- Help with the implementation and onboarding of enrichment subscriptions Google Apps, Dreambox, Learning A-Z, Math Facts Pro, Seesaw
- Envisioning new EdTech implementations as needed
- Attend K-12 Department Meetings
- TMC – Technology Management Committee (1/month)
- TCC – Technology Curriculum Committee (US Tech Coordinator, MS Tech Coordinator, & ES Tech Coordinator)
Qualifications
- Experience managing and teaching children in a K-5 school environment or maker space
- Expertise/passion in STEM/STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math)
- English language proficiency required
- Must have an entrepreneurial spirit
- Understand how to create something from idea to product distribution
- Have a mentorship with a leader in the industry
- Researches contemporary problem or need
- Successful global collaborator
- Good Communication
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and shared space
- Ability to communicate professionally with teachers, students, administration, and parents
- Ability to improvise and supplement additional projects/curriculum as necessary
Experience in one or more of the following is helpful but not required:
- Design thinking principles, project based learning, and inquiry based learning
- Computer programming languages/tools/apps for kids
- 3D design/printing
- Kid-friendly tech like MaKey MaKey, littleBits, Snap Circuits
- Game design
- Stop-motion movie making & editing
- Microcontrollers
- 2D design/graphic design
- Woodworking/power tools
- Digital fabrication
- Crafting, designing, building, hacking, and making in general
- Ability to write new lesson plans in a tech-arts field in which you are passionate/skilled is a big plus

0-10 Years: $60,000- $96,536
11-20 Years: $71,000- $113,493
21-30 Years: $88,471- $133,658
31-40 Years: $107,421- $151,094
41- 50 Years: $126,000- $167,000
