Elementary Assistant Principal
Start date: July 1, 2025 (12 month role)
Salary range: $120,000 – $155,000
Campbell Hall, founded in 1944 and situated on 14 naturally-wooded acres in Studio City, California, is an independent, all-gender, college preparatory, Episcopal day school for students in kindergarten through grade twelve. The elementary division includes grades K-6 and is composed of approximately 350 students and 55 full time faculty.

Job Overview
The Elementary Assistant Principal is a division-level administrative position reporting directly to the Elementary Principal. The Elementary Assistant Principal supports the Elementary Principal in the daily administration of the elementary division. The Elementary Assistant Principal works closely with students, families, faculty, staff, and administration in creating and maintaining an environment reflective of the school’s mission and values.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
Divisional leadership
- Collaborate with the Elementary Principal to support the faculty evaluation process through conducting faculty observations and evaluations while providing a model for positive leadership and continual reflection and growth
- Mentor/coach new faculty, and facilitate goal meetings with all lead and associate teachers
- Collaborate with the Elementary Principal and elementary department chairs to oversee the implementation of the elementary curriculum, including evaluating, organizing, documenting, and communicating
- Assist with faculty hiring processes including recruitment and interviewing
- Thoughtfully engage in difficult conversations when necessary
- Collaborate with the Elementary Principal on the development of the elementary master schedule and scheduling process
- Teach, as needed, in a subject area relevant to the assistant principal’s background (ie: human development, kindergarten reading, gardening program)
- Assist principal with leading division, grade level, department chair, and specialist meetings
- Create and distribute weekly faculty calendars for supervision and division events
- Sustain the school’s commitment to anti-bias education and DEIJ practices within the elementary division
Community leadership
- Represent the elementary school as a member of various committees including (but not limited to): Ad Staff, Health/Safety Committee, Educational Policy and Review
- Committee (EPRC), Religious and Community Life Committee, Outreach Committee, Transgender Support Team, Strategic Planning Group (SPG), Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), Elementary Admissions Committee
- Collaborate with the admissions department by conducting student interviews, reading student files, participating in the elementary admissions committee and coordinating “mini days”
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Auxiliary Programs in regard to childcare and after-school programs
Student and Family Engagement
- Work collaboratively with the Elementary Principal on student life and behavior consistently centering the school’s mission in the approach
- Attend experiential education trips as the administrative presence
- Joyfully engage as a presence on campus to support families including daily morning carpool, attending after-school/evening/weekend events as needed
- Oversee and coordinate with the elementary principal: grade verifications, attendance, report cards, narrative reports, MAP testing, and updating the elementary handbook
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Minimum three years of teaching experience at the elementary level
- Leadership experience
- Knowledge of best practices and current research in K-6 education
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with having critical and mission-aligned conversations with all stakeholders including faculty, parents, and students
- Effective use of and capacity for learning technology (Google Platform, Student Information Systems, etc.)
- Manage a wide range of responsibilities and tasks with professionalism, grace, patience and creativity when working collaboratively with a range of constituent groups, including students, families, faculty, staff, and administration from diverse backgrounds (religious, ethnic, socio-economic)
- Work in a highly relational, visible, and authentic way with students, faculty, staff, and families to support their experience in and beyond the classroom and have experience leading equity and inclusion work within communities
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of constituents
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
- Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat
